What is your vision for the Special Health Care District?   My vision for MIHS is an enhancement of its reputation as a solid community entity.  I visualize growth into an effective 21st century system thereby strengthening care and service to our patients.  I see our fine residency program becoming the best in the state.  These accomplishments will be a product of working with our administrative and medical talent, along with utilizing community resources as partners.

What do you feel are some issues facing the District and how would you resolve them?  It is apparent that a new hospital and or expansion of our facilities demands attention.  The previous Board has begun the groundwork and our responsibility will be to continue the evaluation to make necessary decisions in a fiscally responsible manner.  An immediate answer to handle an increasing patient population may be to use the model of quick clinics and educate patients of their use.  This would alleviate emergency services and create efficiency.  Another issue is the choice to partner with the local universities and their medical school.  This appears to be a natural partnership to build a stronger medical community for all. 

What would you like the public to know about your background and experiences that would serve you well on the Board?  My background includes a combination of banking, broadcast media, and political consulting along with community volunteering.  I worked briefly placing medical personnel which gave me an appreciation for the field.  My Latino heritage provides me with a cultural understanding first hand.  I have lived in the valley for over 20 years and embrace its unique and rapid yet down to earth lifestyle.  My ability to work well with people from all walks of life enables me to serve our county residents in a thoughtful and respectful manner.
