Ambulatory Care

Length of Time : 4 weeks, maximum length of 8 weeks
Offered: Year round

Patient Care Elective: Yes

Goals:

To strengthen skills in the care of adult and pediatric ambulatory patients including evaluation, differential diagnosis and the appropriate use of diagnostic testing in both the acute (walk-in) and continuity clinic settings.

Format:

An individualized program will be developed to give the student a well-rounded experience which meets their particular needs and interests. This will include experience in Med/Peds continuity clinics. During their rotation, students will evaluate patients in triage gaining exposure to a wide variety of disorders.

Evaluation Methods:

Students will be directly supervised by attending physicians in the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics with a Med/Peds attending preceptor to give ongoing feedback and a final written evaluation.
